Tamarso is a medium enterprise delving into the renewable energy space, specifically provision of solar energy. Tamarso started its operation in 2016 with the founder, Sharmarke Abdulkadir, and 2 employees, in a small office in Bakaro Market, Mogadishu. Tamarso has been preparing since its inception, the establishment of comprehensive solar products coupled up with professional services. Tamarso’s seminal project was a 17kW solar system project in June 2016 and thereafter, Tamarso’s products and unique services have been well received. Tamarso has ever since been delivering affordable and reliable solar energy systems within Somalia.Tamarso serves commercial, industrial, and other large-scale clients. Tamarso offers engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solar contracts to factories, hotels, and other commercial sectors and industries. Simultaneously, Tamarso assists our customers in securing finance investment to procure our systems by collaborating with local and international financial institutions. Tamarso also offers energy solutions to hospitals and healthcare institutions. Further, Tamarso establishes mini-grids and cooperates with local electricity suppliers for electricity distribution and customer service. Additionally, Tamarso offers a complete range of advisory services including; surveys, energy audits, diagnostics, design, engineering, procurement, project construction management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance services.

Tamarso has a diverse and young team of engineers with experience. Our engineers are equipped with the latest design and planning tools to enhance internal communication and external communication with clients. We believe that a well-organized engineering team directly translates into high quality final product. The technical team responsible for the field services are well-trained and equipped with the appropriate safety gear, and high standard power and hand tools.
Tamarso’s CEO leads the business unit that ensures installation commercial and large residential solar systems and fulfillment of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contracts. An additional business unit, Powerstore, focuses on delivering solar systems for households and small businesses. Tamarso currently has 23 full-time employees, of which 30% are women, and additional 10+ project-based staff. We are committed to having a gender-balanced team and delivering gender-equitable projects.
Office Team: The complexity of projects and demand for our services requires a skilled team and organized administration. The office team exists of five employees (60% women) and is headed by our operational manager, who is responsible for managing communications between Tamarso’s two business units. The office team administer all activities and support the installation and the Operatios and Maintenance teams.
Installation and Operations and Maintenance Teams: We have 10 young technicians with the skills and tools to independently install solar systems. Our field manager, Mr. Aways, is experienced and has good leadership qualities.
Engineering Team: Our three-person engineering team is led by Mr. Ganga Pandey, an Indian Engineer with more than 7 years of experience in electrical engineering. Mr. Pandey is supported by our talented female engineer and Operational Manager Ms. Jawahir Hassan, two talented residential engineers, Mr. Abdullaziz and Mr. Abdullahi, and our CEO Mr. Sharmarke Abdulkadir. The engineering team is responsible for the project execution as well as delivering technical sales documentation and supporting the sales process with financial calculations for the clients.
Powerstore Business Unit: Our Powerstore business unit is a two-person team that independently manages the residential solar system sales and marketing in urban, pre-urban and rural areas. The team, comprising of Ms. Sareeda and Mr. Nuur, also manages some of Tamarso’s grants that touch on solar system sales to residential customers.
